Placement Officer Training (P.O.T.)
The association of Service Civil International (S.C.I.), created in 1920, encompasses now a large network made up of more than 40 branches and numerous partner organizations. Every year, specially during the months from April to September, the offices of the branches and partners belonging to the network exchange thousands of volunteers willing to participate to international workcamps, the short-term voluntary projects all over the world. This is the reason why the offices need reliable extra staff members in order to cope with the increasing contacts during the "hot season". The Placement Officer Training is a training course lasting usually one week aimed at providing participants (long term volunteers, usually EVS) with office work skills and useful information about the network. Having worked myself as a placement officers for many seasons and being really enthusiastic with this field of activity, I coordinated two training courses between 2006 and 2007, which were both successful. Not only did the volunteers gained precious knowledge with regard to the network working procedures (including IT skills), but they established a long term friendship, which was really profitable during the working season.
