This training course origins date back to 2019, when CCIVS started designing a training course involving experts from the Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations (CTPSR) of Coventry University. Unfortunately, rejections of the application and then the outbreak of Covid-19 hampered the implementation of the face-to-face format, which was planned in Serbia. CCIVS did not lose its spirit and brought the idea forward, proposing a new format, with an online training course in Summer 2021, followed by a second series of meetings in December 2021 to produce the project output (an updated toolkit on Volunteering in Conflict Area). Furthermore, the second module included the conference "Palestinian Youth: challenges and opportunities", featuring speakers from UNESCO and from NGOs and institutions active in the region. During the training course, the participants could improve their knowledge on peace work and conflict, through escercises, presentations, discussions and videos. The experts from CTPSR shared interesting inputs on key-concepts, conflict theories, code of conduct in conflict areas, connections between conflict and gender, environment, identity issues. The participants could benefit from Yorgo's art work, which facilitated the understanding of the contents through effective visualisations (see picture above).
